REVIEW: Tatte Bakery & Cafe, A Boston Favorite in 2025

Tatte Bakery & Cafe is one of the most popular bakeries in the Boston metro area, with 16 locations in Boston, 4 in Cambridge, and 4 in Brookline. If you’re planning a trip to Boston, it’s highly likely you will stumble across Tatte at some point.
Hopefully this post will convince you that it’s worth stepping inside and ordering something special from their menu. You might fall in love with it just like I did!

Why I love Tatte Bakery & Cafe
Here are some of the reasons why I return to Tatte over and over again:
They have a lovely aesthetic.
I’m a sucker for pretty interiors, so I enjoy going to Tatte for the sheer aesthetic of the place. Their elegant tiling mixed with wooden furnishings and fancy lighting is so pleasing to the eye.
The vibe feels partly like a trendy Parisian cafe and partly like a cozy, farm-to-table restaurant. Each Tatte location looks a bit different, too, which means it’s fun to try more than one!

They have unique and delicious brunch options.
Of course, what really brings me back to Tatte over and over again is their menu. The first time I ever went to Tatte was for brunch.
I was immediately intrigued by the names and unique ingredients of their meal options—things like a Halloumi Sunny-side Breakfast Sandwich, Lamb Hash, and Prosciutto & Fig Panini.
Many of the dishes are inspired by the founder’s Israeli heritage, but there are influences from other cultures around the world as well, including Greek, North African, and Italian.
They’ve got good coffee.
Most of the time, I go to Tatte to relax with a nice cup of coffee and something sweet. Their regular lattes and iced coffee are delicious, but if you’re looking to try something a little different, they also serve seasonal options such as a Turmeric & Honey Latte or a Beet Latte.
And Not Surprising: They Have Amazing Sweets.
For dessert, you’ll have a large selection of items to choose from. There are delicious tarts, cakes, cookies, scones, croissants—you name it. There’s sure to be something to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Know before you go
- Tatte gets very crowded, especially on the weekend. It’s not uncommon to see a line out the door, especially at the Beacon Hill location. To get the shortest wait time, you’ll be better off going on a weekday or in the afternoon on the weekend (after the brunch rush).
- You need to order your food at the front counter, even if you plan to sit at a table. They’ll give you a number to place on your table so the servers can bring your order to you (tips aren’t expected).
- Tables aren’t reserved and are available on a first come, first served basis.
